45th Anniversary Celebration Garden Visit and Afternoon Tea
On the 10th August 2024 Members celebrated the 45th Anniversary of the Art Society with an outing to Manor Farm, near Wymondham. What a lovely celebration of our 45th year as an art society! Weather was just right- warm and sunny. We met for a tour of Manor Farm with the Head Gardener. The gardens encompass kitchen gardens, a wildflower area, “the white garden“, sculptures (including a limited edition Peter Pan, just like in Kensington Gardens), water features, a sunflower meadow, and more. Everyone was welcoming - including the family Labrador and puppy! The food was delicious, plentiful, and supplied by our members and committee - special thanks to those who stepped up to help. After lunch, many took the opportunity to paint plein air.

Long-standing Committee Member Stands Down - May 2024

After many years as Committee Member, Treasurer and Chair, Deborah stood down from the Committee, though she will remain a Member and assist where she can..  The Society is deeply indebted to Judith for all her help and wish her continued happy painting.

Beckets Chapel - Venue for our Annual Exhibition - 2023
The historic Beckets Chapel is undergoing major refurbishment during 2022/23. They hope to make improvements to the roof, heating and artwork display systems, and to have this completed by June of this year.  But with old buildings you can never be sure what unforeseen problems you may come across, so we will have to wait and see.
Hopefully we will be able to hold our Exhibition there in July.

Honorary Lifetime Membership Award

Long term Committee Member, Granville, was awarded Honorary Lifetime Membership at the November 2021 meeting as an award for his serivces to the Club over many years.

Whilst the Society is taking an enforced break during 2020 we thought that it would be an ideal time to go for a new look.  This new image represents the town's historic Market Cross building appropriately on the end of a pencil.

Wymondham's Market Cross is an octagonal timber-framed structure built in the early 1600s and now is home to the Tourist Information Centre.

Plein Air Group

For Members interested in Plein Air (outdoor) Painting sessions will now be organised on a more adhoc basis.
